Most people have seen the MTV show called Jackass. I am fortunate enough to have listened to it years before the show came out, and even seen video from it before it hit the airwaves.
Why you ask?
Because a lot, and really, the majority of stunts and pranks that are on Jackass were ripped off from The Dog House. (First time readers, if you have time, scroll through this blog to learn more about the Dog House) Bicycle jousting, colon cleansing, amongst other stuff Johnny Knoxville and friends did and do were all done by The Dog House years before MTV got a hold of it.
The producer of Jackass lived in the Bay Area and listened to The Dog House every morning. He liked the show and asked JV, the host, if he was interested in doing some type of show for MTV. JV loved the idea, but was unwilling to leave the Bay Area for Los Angeles. So the producer basically listened, jotted down ideas, and found anybody to do the stunts...And now you have Jackass.
Below is a video, and you can take a look at all the crazy stunts The Dog House did way before Jackass stole them. But you might be bored, seeing that you already may have seen all this already on MTV. (sarcasm if you didn't catch that)

As I recall, from limited exposure, the Dog House was one of the best radio shows ever!
I watched the video below. It lost me with the vomit stunt. It seems similar to Tom Green's show I used to watch on MTV. It's too bad JV didn't want to go to Los Angeles. I found a site about Jackass to find out more as I have never watched the show before.
Why, yes, I did catch that sarcasm. Did the Dog House get any credit or compensation for inspiring Jack(booty)?
Before Jackass came out, there was a show/films called CKY, CKY2K and CKY3
These came out way before Jackass, but included many of the asses that you see on the show today, so I guess the real question is, whether CKY came out first or the Dog House?
